Used or new cars can be imported to New Zealand ports from Japan. The freight charges can then be paid when the vehicle arrives. All imported cars must be right hand drive unless the cars are classed as: antque, special purpose, motorsport cars.

Age Limitations
Emmission standards, require Vehicles to be manufactured after 2005. However, there are two exceptions to this rule. The vehicle is a special interest car or secondly the car has been registered under your name in Japan as a personal import.

Road worthiness Inspection
JEVIC and MAF inspections are required to be done in Japan before importing the car to New Zealand
